I used to live the dream every summer with my Durham Bulls and the occasional trip 90 miles west for Single A baseball with the Winston-Salem Warthogs. I am now forced to go to Wrigley Field and watch the National League (partially because I can get free tickets). Chicago is a baseball town but nothing compares to a 2-1 pitcher’s duel at Camden Yards on a cool summer night. Crabcake sandwiches and cold beer… the smell of barbecue wafting in from the outfield from the grills on Eutaw Street. There is just something about the way Orange, Black, Gray and White go together.

Minor League Notes
Despite suspicion that he might be promoted to the majors, Chris Tillman will remain in the minor leagues for now. “We’ve said, since Day One, don’t expect Tillman to be here,” manager Dave Trembley said. “We think the world of Tillman. We think that kid has a great future, but we’re not going to put […]

O’s Blast Rangers 9-1
Though his first career complete game six days ago may be been a bit out of the ordinary for Jeremy Guthrie, the way he pitched on Friday night certainly was not. Guthrie made quick work of a Rangers lineup that entered the game ranked first in the American League in team batting. Receiving 15 hits […]

Garrett Olson couldn’t come close to duplicating the effort that Chris Waters put up against the Angels on Tuesday night. Vladimir Guerrero powered the Angels offense with his 20th home run of the season and drove in four of the Angels’ nine runs as the Angels beat up on the Orioles’ starter and bullpen by […]

Getting the call after going 3-6 with a 5.70 in AAA Norfolk, Chris Waters was brought in to face the best team in baseball. How did he fare? He completely shut down the potent Angels offense, allowing just one hit on three strike outs and three walks while combining with George Sherrill to blank the […]

Sherrill Walks In Winning Run
After the Orioles battled back from a 5-0 deficit by scoring four runs in the top of the ninth, closer George Sherrill walked home the winning run in the bottom of the ninth as the Angels pulled off the 6-5 win over the Orioles last night. Up until the ninth, the Orioles bullpen held the […]

Jeremy Guthrie’s first career complete game was a four-hitter Saturday against the Mariners. Who better to throw nine innings against than the team that swings at everything? Guthrie threw 106 pitches, 72 of them for strikes. He fanned just two, but that’s because the Mariners were grounding out and popping up early in the count. […]

The Orioles started their West Coast road-swing by breaking out the bats for 10-runs on 15-hits, as Garrett Olson went 8 1/3 innings en-route to a 10-5 victory over the Seattle Mariners in Safeco Field. Jay Payton drove in three-runs in an 8-run fifth inning on a bases-loaded triple, and Adam Jones (photo) chipped in […]

No Deals for Orioles
Camden Yards has been filled with rival scouts who have been looking at closer George Sherrill and second baseman Brian Roberts in July. But two hours before the deadline, Orioles GM Andy MacPhail did not believe he would make a trade.
The Orioles have made it clear to other teams that they’re looking to receive a […]
Breaking News
The Yankees didn’t wait long to address the loss of Jorge Posada. New York traded Kyle Farnsworth for 14-time All-Star catcher Pudge Rodriguez, who was splitting time with Brandon Inge in Detroit. Yankees appear on paper to be the team to beat now in the AL East. The additions of Pudge, Xavier Nady and Damaso […]

Bobby Abreu hit a pair of homers while getting a day off from the field, Alex Rodriguez also went deep and the New York Yankees pounded the Orioles 13-3 on Wednesday to avoid a three-game sweep. Abreu also doubled and had three RBIs as the designated hitter, and Rodriguez and Xavier Nady each had two […]

Daniel Cabrera held the Yankees to three runs over seven-plus innings and the Orioles fended off a late rally by the Yankees in a 7-6 victory on Tuesday night. Cabrera picked up his second win in his last 13 starts to improve to 7-6 on the season. He’d allowed only one run through seven frames, […]

O’s Notes
The Orioles will have Dennis Sarfate replace Brian Burres in the rotation and start on Wednesday. If the Orioles were a contender, this would be a foolish move. However, the team has little to lose by taking a look at the wild Sarfate, who still has some work to do to keep himself in the […]

Jeremy Guthrie allowed just one run in 6 1/3 innings as the Orioles topped the Yankees 13-4 on Monday night. Guthrie was pulled after allowing a solo homer in the top of the seventh, and Lance Cormier quickly surrendered three runs without retiring a single batter. Fortunately, the Orioles were still up seven, and stopped […]
